Background:The use of Viagra (sildenafil citrate) is widespread, but its effectiveness is limited by safety issues and contraindications. Therefore, researchers are investigating the development of an alternative to Viagra in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sildenafil citrate (Viagra) as an alternative to Viagra in treating ED. Materials and Methods: A total of 523 patients who had undergone radical ED treatment with sildenafil citrate between January 2004 and December 2014 were included in this retrospective observational study. All patients were assessed by the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The number of patients who met the International Index of Erectile Function domain criteria was 8.8 (95% CI 1.3 to 15.1). The primary analysis was conducted using logistic regression and the secondary analysis was conducted using the International Index of Erectile Function domain. Results: Of the 523 patients, 322 (83.6%) experienced a statistically significant increase in IIEF domain score compared to baseline (1.8; 95% CI 1.1 to 2.3), while the use of Viagra (n = 522) was not associated with an increase in IIEF domain score. In conclusion, Viagra has a favorable safety profile with no potential adverse effects on men with ED, and sildenafil citrate is an alternative to Viagra and its generic counterpart.
Conclusions:Our results suggest that sildenafil citrate can be a useful alternative for the treatment of ED with an effective and safe profile. In the future, our study will further investigate sildenafil citrate as an effective alternative for the treatment of ED.

1 The European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) Committee for the Evaluation of the Safety of Medicines in Adults (COPE) has recommended sildenafil citrate as an alternative to Viagra (see: “Sildenafil citrate as an alternative to Viagra: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group comparison of efficacy and safety.”). The EMA has also endorsed sildenafil citrate as an alternative to Viagra for men with ED. A study with over 100,000 men with ED in the USA, Europe, Canada, Japan, and Australia also showed that sildenafil citrate may be more effective than Viagra in treating ED. The efficacy of sildenafil citrate is well established and safe when taken as prescribed. The EMA’s recommendation is that sildenafil citrate should not be used as an alternative to Viagra. Sildenafil citrate may also be associated with some adverse effects. We therefore studied the efficacy of sildenafil citrate as an alternative to Viagra in treating erectile dysfunction. A total of 523 patients with erectile dysfunction were included in the analysis. The study population included men with erectile dysfunction. The mean age of the patients was 57 (SD 14) years. The patients were predominantly male and had moderate to severe cardiovascular disease. The most common underlying cause was coronary artery disease. The patients were prescribed sildenafil citrate (n = 522) at a dosage of 100 mg daily (n = 836) with a mean duration of 5 days (SD 2.5) and mean duration of 3.1 (SD 1.7) days on the first day of the study. Sildenafil citrate was not associated with any clinically significant adverse effects on the primary outcome measures of IIEF, sexual function domain, or sexual activity domain. There were no statistically significant differences between the groups in the primary outcome measures on the secondary measures of the IIEF, sexual activity domain, or sexual function domain. Sildenafil citrate may be an effective alternative to Viagra in treating ED and the efficacy of sildenafil citrate is well established.IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please be aware, prior to sale, you are advised to have a short phone call consultation with our Pharmacist. In a market that's growing at a rapid pace with the help of medicines and online services, Viagra is becoming the first prescription drug for erectile dysfunction.
Pfizer is launching the erectile dysfunction pill in the UK in the US.
It comes as little surprise that the little blue pill is gaining traction, with more than 50 per cent of men aged 50 or over taking it.
Experts say the blue pill is making a huge difference in men with low sexual desire and impotence.
Dr Peter Dunn, director of international pharmaceuticals and a leading expert in the field, toldThe BMJ:“Erectile dysfunction, or ED, affects millions of men worldwide, with many experiencing sexual problems, including lack of sex drive or impotence.”
“We want to give you the best chance we have of getting you back on track,” he said.
“But it’s important to remember that you won’t get the same benefits from Viagra over and over and on.
“You’ll only get the same results from a one-off visit to a doctor.
“You won’t find the blue pill on the shelves, and you won’t get the same benefits from an online visit to a doctor.”
The little blue pill was first approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration in 1996, in an erection drug called Sildenafil Citrate. It’s the first treatment for ED that can work on the brain.
Dr Dunn said: “Viagra is a popular treatment option for men with ED, and it’s growing in number as we see more men turn to it.”
The drug is now the leading treatment for impotence in the UK.
Dr Stewart Adams, director of global public health sciences, said: “The rise of online pharmacies and the increasing prevalence of online-only treatments have contributed to the increasing use of erectile dysfunction (ED) medication, and Viagra is a game-changer.”
He added: “Men have a right to know about their sexual health, and the potential of Viagra to improve their quality of life is great.”
According to theBMJ,“The medication has been proven to be effective in up to 80% of men with ED and to have a clinically relevant effect in as little as 10 minutes on average,” but experts agree it’s important to talk to your doctor before taking the medication. “If you’re interested in seeking treatment, the online pharmacy should be the best choice” for you.
Men who are thinking about starting or switching from a prescription-only treatment to Viagra can now book an initial consultation.
